Current Research and Professional Work:

Since 1993 Dr. Renner has been an Adjunct Research Professor, part-time college and university teacher, and a private consultant in the areas of program evaluation and social-action research. His current work is focused in three areas:

Evaluation Research/Action-Research

Dr. Renner has worked with community groups to help them record information about their programs and accomplishments, and to address with knowledge and authority related public policy issues. His evaluation research strategy is based on an "action-research" model. Action-research is the philosophy of knowledge and science which provides the foundation for "community psychology." Community psychology applies social science knowledge and methods to address social problems in ways which serves client's needs and promotes fundamental social change.

Sexual Assault and Abuse and the Legal Process

This research series has examined the ways the legal system responds to women and children who have been sexually assaulted and abused. The result is a three fold social action program that can be implemented by local community groups for: (1) documenting the outrageous to raise public awareness, (2) challenging the legal system to force reform of the legal process and, (3) supporting survivors who choose to make use of the legal system to gain redress. The Challenge for Change in Higher Education

Leadership in the 90's was one of managing incremental change; leadership in the 2000's is about becoming an agent of change. This research series examines the ways in which the youth of today are fundamentally different from their teachers at the same age, and how they must be taught in ways that are fundamentally different than the ways their teachers learned to teach. The research series is about the means for raising a new vision of higher education and the social and psychological aspects of introducing and thriving on change.
